and now through 115th blog I'm going to share knowledge on PR Education Day -
6th August, with you.
Friends' Late Dr. C V Narasimha Reddi (6th August 1933
to 25th March 2020) is a name to reckon with PR profession in India. Dr. CVN Reddi
was one of the pioneers of Ethical PR in India. He served as Information
Advisor to four Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh while working as Director,
Information & Public Relations and held many other positions in different
Departments of the State of Andhra Pradesh.
Dr. CVN Reddi was also actively associated with PRSI
Hyderabad Chapter and was its Secretary in 1976-79 and later Chairman of the
Chapter on two occasions i.e. 1979-82 and 1988-89. He was National President of
Public Relations Society of India during the years 1985-87.
Dr. CVN Reddi always endeavored for establishing the
fact that Professionalism and Ethics are the basics for practicing meaningful
Public Relations globally. He was a storehouse of knowledge, yet craved for
teaching and learning new things in PR and adjacent areas till his last breath.
Dr. CVN Reddi was a visionary philanthropist too. He
founded a Trust with the twin objective of helping out poor children pursue
their education and promote public relations as a profession. He instituted
Best PR Manager award in 1992 to encourage PR practitioners and launched the
journal Public Relations Voice in 1997 as its founder Editor which is
continuously serving its purpose as a gate-way to PR knowledge.
Keeping in view the services of Legendary PR
professional Dr C V Narasimha Reddi and his invaluable contributions to the
field of PR Education, on 6th August 2008 which happened to be his 75th
birthday, my dear friend Shri Y. Babji a senior PR functionary and an
ardent follower of Dr Reddi, in association with CVN PR Foundation and PRSI
christened 6th August, the birthday of Dr. Reddi as Public Relations Education
Day. Friends, since then 6th August is celebrated as Public Relations Education
Day by PR fraternity to perpetuate his valuable services to the field of PR
Education.
Dear friends, Dr. CVN Reddy not only taught PR in
various Universities, but also gave as many as 35 books and course material on
PR and allied disciplines in English and Telugu languages to PR fraternity. In
addition, he steered a syllabus committee for State Council of Higher Education
and instrumental in introducing PR courses in Universities. He was UGC’s first
National Professor in Public Relations in the Country.
